Help protect our environment

World Environment Day was created to remind us how important it is to look after our environment. This day aims to raise awareness and encourage action to protect the environment with small everyday routines.

World Environment Day has a different theme each year, with the hashtag #OnlyOneEarth being used internationally this year. #OnlyOneEarth steht.

Why is it so important to protect our environment?

There are hundreds of reasons why everyone should take care of the environment. We could talk about them for hours. But probably the most important point is to preserve our habitat and leave this wonderful nature with unique and amazing creatures to our successors. Just as we know it.

Our earth offers so many beautiful places and impressive flora and fauna that simply amaze everyone and only together can we preserve this.

Everyone can do something for our planet and even small actions can have a positive impact.

What Bär contributes to environmental protection

We at BÄR also do our part every day through our actions, because a clean and beautiful earth is particularly important to us. That's why we work as sustainably as possible.

BÄR shoes are already a sustainable product due to our product and production philosophy. They are made using natural materials, have an above-average lifespan and our repair service also gives your shoes a second life. With a comprehensive sustainability strategy, BÄR supports the three areas of social, economic and ecological sustainability.

What sustainability at BÄR means in figures per year

In India as well as in Germany, we generate more than 60% of our own energy requirements from renewable sources. Furthermore, our factory in Ambur (India) is equipped with its own wastewater treatment plant for process water, which reduces water consumption to a minimum. In 2020, we were also able to save 81.78 tons of CO2 - the equivalent of driving a mid-range petrol car for around 400,000 km. You could drive around the world about 10 times with that.

What you can do to help protect the environment:

Remember: everyone can do something for our earth through their behavior. Even small actions have a positive effect on it. So start today rather than never Try to avoid waste and plant your own vegetable, fruit and herb gardens. To reduce delivery routes and avoid packaging. However, if you don't have green fingers at all, you can also buy your fruit and vegetables from the farmer next door, at the weekly market or in the supermarket from regional farmers.

Here's a little DIY recipe for a homemade cleaning product:

For the all-purpose cleaner you will need

• 1 teaspoon of baking soda
• 1 teaspoon of grated curd soap
• 1 squeeze of lemon juice
• 1 cup of warm water
• optionally a few drops of essential oil
• You will also need a spray bottle to fill with the finished cleaning agent
• Place the curd soap and water in a saucepan and heat the mixture while stirring until the curd soap has dissolved
• Allow the soapy water to cool slightly before adding the remaining ingredients
• Stir again thoroughly and allow your homemade cleaning agent to cool down
• Finally, pour the cooled cleaner into the spray bottle

Tip: You can also use 1 teaspoon of soda instead of baking soda. This is more alkaline than baking soda and reacts much more strongly. Soda can work wonders, especially on stubborn stains, for example in the oven.
